Yesterday I got back from Portugal and have got most of my filming done. I still need to film a a voice over. I have made sure I have plenty of filming since I cannot hop in a car to re film since it was in Portugal.
Advantages of filming in Portugal was that I could use great scenery and the weather was bright and sunny. I thought filming ing Portugal would be different from what everyone else was doing and that I would be able to get some decent shots filming under water etc.
Disadvantages of filming in Portugal is that I had to rely on the weather being sunny and suitable for filming. I also had a limited time to film and even ended up extending the trip in order for me to get all the footage I needed.
I have put a lot of time and effort into the final project of this year. However I still have a far way to go editing and a bit more filming!

Filming for Depict
Recently I created the storyboard for my film. I am currently in Portugal and today did the first filming. It went well, however I will need to do an extra couple of days filming. I am using 2 characters in total for my film. I have extended my trip in Portugal for an extra five days so that I can achieve a better outcome for my film.

Finalised choice of film for Depict.
On Friday I did my pitch, and have decided to choose my first idea which is about a young man who finds a key. The film has an underlying meaning referring to a parable. I suggested using the parable 'life is about the journey not the destination".
I have been doing some doing research and have found a more suitable parable:
" For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always som obstacle in the way, something to be got trough first, some unfinished business, time to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that that these obstacles were my life."
-FR. ALFRED D'SOUZA
This is obviously quite a long quote and so I will use a voice over.
I have been brain storming some camera angles/ shots I can use in my film and have found these:

I like the camera angles on these images and I will include them in my film. The location will be in portugal and so the weather will be sunny and warm so I should be able to incorporate this into my film.

LAST PROJECT OF SECOND YEAR...DEPICT
My last project of the year is a 90 second drama. I have recently had to come up with three different ideas in which I can film. Tomorrow is the first pitch.
The first idea is based on life is not about the destination but the journey. This will be the message to the audience, however will be portrayed through a story about a young man.
The second idea is based on that time is a gift of life and should not be wasted. Life should be loved and lived. This is the message I want to get over to the audience.
The third idea is based on a documentary genre about footballers. Ex professional footballers will be interviewed and asked questions on current football today such as, if footballers get payed to much and has the behaviour of footballers changed in today's society.
Tomorrow I will pitch my ideas to see what the lecturers say.

Third edit!
Yesterday I was pretty busy filming outside for my visual projection. I have spent a long time editing my previous film and adding new footage. I have concentrated adding new textures since Dominic advised this. I have also cut out some random footage previosuly in my film, however have still kept some sequences other lecturers are not keen on. I think they go well in my film. For example some did not agree with having the fire sequence in my film however I thought it went quite well how the ripples changed into fire and lips. It keeps the random obscure sense to it. However I have cut out some transitions and scenes such as the logs which did not really fit as well.

Second edit to Visual Projection
Today Dominic and the lecturers saw my second edit and gave me some important points I need to take on board for my final edit! The main points are that I need to keep with the obscurity and surreal feeling of the visual projection. By doing this I am going to cut out strong transitions such as white box with the candles, my actual face whilst doing movement and the wellies with the puddles. Tomorrow I am going out to film. I have been advised to add more textures to the film and so I will film more repetitive patterns.
My second edit is this:
With the advice from my lecturers I will hopefully improve this edit and have a decent projection!

editing visual projection
Recently, I have been pretty busy editing my Visual Projection....it seems to be taking a hell of a long time! I had my first edit presentation a couple of weeks ago and Debra and Danny Kaye explained where I could improve and explained what they would change personally. However in my last piece of work I got criticised for paying too much attention to feedback and so this time I have I have only changed what I have felt is necessary.
The main criticism of my first edit was that the lectures felt there was too much going on in my film. Even though there are strong themes running through my film such as movement, repetition and reflection, there was just too much going on. And so the main task recently for me was to cut a lot of the sequences out however exchanging them for others since this piece has to last a certain amount of time. I have repeated more sequences I felt have worked well in the film and have included more reflection and ripples. I am showing my next edit on Friday so fingers crossed they will find it an improvement!
